As news around the world about Coronavirus spreads on the news and social media, we immediately feel worried for our loved ones and close ones. We must also take a little responsibility for the elderly and disabled in our community.

Beaconsfield Together and Amersham & Chalfonts Together publications run by Therese Cooklin at Abstract Niche Ltd was urged to produce a magazine that would reach as many homes as possible in the areas that these magazines would normally cover.

Content in the May/June issue

The content will mostly be community based, news and views and will feature lots of positive news and heartwarming stuff to give some good cheer in these rather challenging times.

This will be the only time (let’s hope) that so many people will be present at home and have time on their hands, so hopefully all will read it!

I remain ever optimistic that we will make it out of this terrible situation, both health wise and economically. It will take time obviously but the fact that so many people have come together as one community rather than individuals is so heart warming. We all have hearts and compassion and the reason why I produce these community magazines. It is amazing how everyone has pulled together.

The name for this one-off magazine will be Community Together (featuring Beaconsfield Together and Amersham & Chalfonts Together and if you have any questions please email me on therese@communitytogether.co.uk

NHS Guidelines

Fore mostly the NHS have issued basic guidelines to minimise the risk to ourselves and others.

If you are displaying any of the following symptoms stay at home and self isolate for 7 days and until at least 48 hours after symptoms disappear.

High temperature
New, continuous cough

The NHS has issued guidance indicating that the best way of stopping the spread of the virus is to take basic hygiene precautions, including:

When you cough or sneeze cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands). Put used tissues in the bin immediately
Wash your hands with soap and water often (20 seconds)
Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

However, we must try and keep a level of calm and perspective over this but one thing is certain we definitely know that the elderly are most at risk and with certain medical conditions the virus if it’s caught can be fatal.

If you are reasonably fit and healthy, chances are that you will be fine and you may like to do your bit for the community.
