Privacy policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information.

Last updated: July 2026. This policy should be reviewed by a qualified adviser before publication.

Who we are

Community Together Communications Limited publishes community magazines and provides marketing, PR and community engagement services for local communities.

For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at marketing@communitytogether.co.uk.

What information we collect

We only collect what we need. Depending on how you use this website, that may include:

  • Your name, business or organisation name, email address and telephone number, when you complete an enquiry, subscription or submission form.
  • Your community or area, and the services you are interested in.
  • The content of any news story, event, offer, competition entry or wellbeing listing you submit, including any images.
  • Your postcode and age confirmation, where a competition requires it.
  • Which page you submitted a form from, and the date and time.
  • Anonymous analytics data about how the website is used, but only if you accept analytics cookies.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To respond to your enquiry - because you have asked us to, and because we have a legitimate interest in answering people who contact us.
  • To send you marketing or newsletters - only where you have given consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To administer competitions - to contact winners and fulfil prizes.
  • To review and publish submissions - where you have given consent to publication.
  • To improve the website - using analytics, where you have accepted analytics cookies.

Keeping business leads and community subscribers separate

We maintain two separate records: one for businesses and organisations enquiring about our services, and one for residents who have asked to receive community news, events, competitions, offers or wellbeing content. We do not mix these lists, and subscribing to one does not add you to the other.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us operate - for example our email marketing platform, customer relationship system and website host - all of whom are bound to protect it.

Where a competition is run with a prize provider, we will only pass your details to that provider if you have given separate, explicit consent by ticking the relevant box.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and business leads: up to three years from your last contact with us.
  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus a record of your unsubscribe request.
  • Competition entries: up to six months after the closing date.
  • Published submissions: for as long as the content remains published.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete your data, where there is no reason for us to keep it.
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is our basis for using it.
  • Ask for your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these, email marketing@communitytogether.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

See our cookie policy for details of the cookies this website uses and how to control them.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and restricted access to our systems. No website can guarantee absolute security, but we take this seriously.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
